Why Modern Rechargeable Batteries are so Affordable and Effective

Rechargeable batteries have grown in use over recent years as they are now integral features of many of the modern devices which consumers take for granted – mobile phones, laptops, cameras, games consoles and power tools as well as many others besides. Indeed, there are now more types of rechargeable and replacement batteries available than ever before as li

thium-ion, nickel-cadmium, nickel-hydride and other variants all jostle to be the rechargeable battery material of choice amongst manufacturers and consumers.

However, it wasn’t so long ago that rechargeables were considered to be poor relations of alkaline batteries, especially in terms of cost and performance. Fortunately, today’s rechargeable battery options are more than match for their alkaline counterparts, both in terms of cost and performance.

Cost

It is fair to say that some rechargeables are more expensive to buy than standard batteries. However, many of the rechargeables available today can be reused more than 500 times so any initial outlay will quickly be dwarfed by the potential savings that rechargeable battery solutions provide. Indeed, consumers can make significant long-term savings by using rechargeables over a prolonged period of time.

Performance

Rechargeable technology has improved massively over the last decade. Indeed, some rechargeables are now capable of delivering a higher performance than normal alkaline batteries. For example, nickel-cadmium batteries have been known to perform supremely well in very cold conditions and when excessively used.

Without doubt, rechargeables are some of the most effective and affordable battery options available.
