The 2020 Mazda CX-9 is a third row SUV that’s comes with an impressive build, interior space, comfort, convenience, sport and off-road capabilities, interactive communication capabilities, intelligent technology and extensive safety features. Its however known more as a family car, because of its 7-seater capability. The 2020 CX-9 comes standard with a 4-cylinder 2.5L Turbo engine that’s capable of 250hp and 350 lb-ft. of torque and is available in 4 comprehensively appointed trim levels, namely, the Sport, the Touring, the Grand Touring, Signature. Apart from a range of useful comfort, convenience, communication and advanced safety features, an I-ACTIV All-wheel drive system is available for the first three trims, while the Signature trim comes with a Predictive I-ACTIV AWD system. Mazda Henderson whom we visited to learn more about this fantastic automobile explained that all the features apart, the aerodynamic stability in the 2020 Mazda CX-9 is noteworthy and gave us deeper insights into this aspect.

Aerodynamic Stability Through Design

Talking more of stability through exterior design, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 is a result of careful sculpting with advanced engineering incorporated into each exterior detail to enhance performance while keeping an eye on the remarkable style factor. This is immediately visible in the way the front fascia is designed as you will easily notice that its designed to keep air resistance to a minimum. The front grille is subtly designed to suck in air to cool the engine and encompasses active grille shutters that block air from entering the radiator while at the same time open at higher speeds to help keep the engine at optimum temperatures. The front also has huge air inlets on the bumper and on the sides to take in more air to keep the engines cool. The hood, windshield and roofline all form come into unison to form a smooth aerodynamic profile with the roof rising subtly and then tapering downwards towards the rear, taking in the rear-liftgate into the design framework. The long and wide profile of this full-size SUV adds to the high stability of the vehicle, which can take turns masterfully.

Stability Through Engineering Innovation

The 2020 Mazda CX-9 is a showcase of all of Mazda’s engineering and innovation and achieves high stability through SKYACTIV Vehicle Dynamics with G-Vectoring Control. The main aim of these set of innovations revolves around using a combination reduction in torque and load shifting between the front wheels to provide balance and stability when you encounter turns or curvy roads. This is done to help reduce driver and passenger fatigue.

Enhanced Ride Control & Performance

All the trim comes with the standard 4-cylinder 2.5L Turbo engine that’s capable of 250hp and 350 lb-ft. of torque. For better control you can add the available I-ACTIV AWD system with Off-road Traction Assist on the first three trims, while the Signature trim comes with a Predictive i-ACTIV AWD system as standard. We learnt at Henderson Mazda that A SKYACTIVE 6-speed automatic transmission system is common across all the trims. It’s this i-ACTIV system that’s responsible for the enhanced control and performance that harnesses the extra stability from the aerodynamic design that make the CX-9 such a desired ride.
